Description

Situated in the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida, the Disney’s Animal Kingdom is quite different from any other theme park you might have heard about. First and foremost, this place is a sanctuary for many rare species of animals. The park is filled with wilderness that makes it no different from an actual jungle, with chirps of macaws and flapping of flamingoes masking the environment from any signs of artificial interventions. When opened in 1998, the park was promised to be a “kingdom of animals: real, ancient and imagined”. Even now, this tagline stays true to its statement, since the Disney’s Animal Kingdom continues to be one of the most highly visited theme parks of all time, with all the credits going to the variety of breathtaking attractions it has to offer to the visitors.

To truly understand how vast this theme park is, comprehension regarding its six different areas is mandatory. The park starts with its main entrance, the Oasis, which exists mainly to introduce visitors to the services they might require. This is where one of the many branches of Rainforest Café can be found, which provides both dining and entertaining accommodations. While the Oasis serves to provide a pathway into the deeper parts of the theme park, it also contains habitats of birds such as pochards, pintails, ibises, and a wide range of wild ducks.

Africa and Asia, both areas built according to the geographical structures of their namesakes, aim to create a natural environment in which wilderness can be experienced to the fullest. While the Africa area contains savannahs and rocky hills, the Asia area is centered on two makeshift villages. Both these villages contribute to the protection and research of wildlife, and allows many wild animals to roam free. Here, the visitors can get exposure to species such as Bengal tigers, flying foxes, emerald doves, green peafowls, etc. On the other hand, the African wilderness is home to elephants, gazelles, mandrills, impalas, and even lions.

Discovery Island, another major division, is home to the theme park’s signature venue: the Tree of Life. This giant Baobab tree provides shelters to kangaroos, storks, otters, and tortoises. Other important areas of the park are the Rafiki’s Planet Watch, which is more like an educational trip, and the Dinoland U.S.A, which aims to inform visitors about the giant reptiles which walked this earth during prehistoric ages. All these six areas of attractions combine together to provide a funhouse of learning, exploring, and enjoying the beauty of nature in its finest.
